1974 - Lynyrd Skynyrd released their classic tune "Sweet Home Alabama.”

1976 - John Lennon’s request for permanent residency in the United States was finally approved.

1976 - Bruce Springsteen sued manager Mike Appel in Manhattan's U.S. District Court citing fraud and breach of contract.

1976 - Tina Turner filed for a divorce from Ike Turner.

1979 - Alice Cooper's Scottsdale, Arizona Indian art store was hit by a firebomb.

1986 - Queen became the first act since Louis Armstrong to play in Budapest, Hungary.

2007 - Paul Stanley of KISS was forced to walk offstage at a show after his pulse was found to be at twice the normal level. Not content to call it quits, the band performed as a trio with Gene Simmons taking over on all vocals.
